Text Highlights
Everything about marking text on a page: colors, styles, notes, tags, auto mode, and how highlights survive page changes.
Creating a highlight
Select any text on the page — a style picker appears next to the selection. Click a color dot and the text is highlighted immediately, using your current style. Right after that you can:
- Click a different color dot to restyle the same highlight.
- Click the pen button to attach a note and tags, and choose how the annotation is displayed: as a hover tooltip, or always visible on the page.
The picker stays open, so you can highlight several sentences in a row.
The five highlight styles

| Underline | Straight line under the text. |
| Wavy | Wavy line under the text — handy for “revisit this”. |
| Text Color | Recolors the characters themselves. |
Line width does not affect highlights — it only applies to drawing tools.
Colors
The palette has six colors: red, amber, green, blue, violet, orange — all available to everyone. You can rename colors in Settings (Palette section) — for example to mark “follow-up” or “quote” — turning your colors into a personal classification system.
Auto mode
Turn on Auto on the panel and simply keep selecting text: every selection is highlighted automatically with the current color — no clicks needed. Auto can't be combined with the drawing tools; picking a tool turns Auto off. The setting is remembered per browser.
Editing and deleting
- Quick popup — click an existing highlight: change its color or style, open the annotation editor (pen), or delete it (trash).
- Annotation Detail — open Browse (the count button), click the pencil icon on its card: type a note, manage tags, change color and style, or delete.
- Manager — in the Annotation Manager, you can edit any highlight's note and tags from its card.
Highlights that carry a note behave like every annotation: close the note popup with its ✕ button, and a small bubble icon stays right after the highlight — click it to bring the note back. See Annotation popups.
How highlights survive
Highlights are anchored to the text they mark and are re-applied automatically when you revisit the page. Sagitnote is resilient: if the page has shifted slightly, several fallback strategies relocate your highlights, and minor page changes heal on their own. To help highlights stick:
- Highlight stable content — articles, documentation, posts.
- On heavily dynamic pages (feeds, virtualized lists), a highlight may occasionally fail to re-locate; simply re-apply it.
