Cloud Sync

How sync works

Cloud sync is enabled by default on every registered account. Everything you annotate — pages, folders, annotations, tags, documents, and snapshots — is backed up to your account. Sign in with the same account on another device and your library comes over; new changes flow both ways automatically.

• Automatic — local changes are pushed within seconds; updates from your other devices are pulled periodically and at login.
• Manual — press Sync now in the manager header for an immediate round trip with a summary of what was uploaded, downloaded, and updated.

When something fails

The manager header shows a sync failures icon with a counter whenever items could not be uploaded. Open it to see exactly what is pending — each entry shows its type, a content preview, and the reason (for example "snapshot too large"). From there you can:

• Retry a single item, or Retry all.
• Discard an item — your local data is kept; only the upload is abandoned.

Failed items are retried automatically up to 10 times before they are marked as exhausted.

Automatic pauses

If the service is temporarily unreachable or returns errors, automatic sync pauses to avoid overwhelming a struggling server and resumes on its own. A manual Sync now always goes through and clears the pause as soon as it succeeds. While offline, your data simply stays local — everything created offline is uploaded when connectivity returns.

Conflicts

If the same annotation was changed on two devices before a sync, the latest change wins. A conflict never loses data silently — the losing change is listed in the sync summary so you can see what happened.

Images across devices

Annotated images and screenshots travel with sync and appear in full on your other devices (counted against your cloud storage quota). If storage runs short and an image cannot be uploaded, the annotation on other devices falls back to the original image on the page.
